  1. Greg Cook. You mentioned Snagglepuss. I remember a guy that Bill Young named Snagglepus because Bill said he talked like him. Is that who you mean. I remember him being teamed with me and Bill (probably around Feb. 70) with the 90mm and I thought he was a 90 guy. Is this the same guy, do you know? Bill and I almost killed him one day when he threw peaches and pound cake out because he didn’t like it and didn’t know that was the ultimate dessert of the bush!

    1. Jim
It’s funny you mention pound cake and peaches. About ten years ago Top Silverman sent me some pound cake and peaches after a conversation we had about them…..
      Thanks Top!

  2. Looking forward to reunion, SR I swore never to put a ruck on my back July 2 1970 and I never have and never will!

  6. Boy guys,
Where the heck is my brain, theanniversary of the downing of the chinook at LZ Judy is tomorrow August 26!

  7. Hey Guys,
I am extremely excited to be able to see you in Bloomington. I realized today that I was remiss in not acknowledging the downing of the Chinook with our brothers on board at LZ Judy on August 16, 1970. RIP Brothers and particulary Obie!

  8. We definitely r interested in the Fort Snelling tour and Minnehaha. We r planning on bringing a cheese plate and fruit from Nelson Cheese Factory in Wisconsin for Thursday night . Everyone seemed to enjoy the cheese curds. all the planning and sights sound great good job Scanlons. It has been a long time since we have seen a lot of you and looking forward to it. If you need payment in advance for anything let us know. Do we need to make reservatins at Sensors or r they expecting a large group? See you all soon. (for Fred by Alice)

A few notes for all those planning to come to Minneapolis in September:
I want the participation to be great so I’ve worked out the best deals I could, to help make this reunion more affordable. The hotel included breakfast for two, which keeps room costs reasonable as well as allowing us to have our own hospitality room; with where we can supply our own beer, wine, and soft drinks. We’ll need to supply coolers but ice will be free and we can bring in our own snacks. Don’t forget that there is a Shuttle Service provided by the Hotel from and to the Airport. It will be great if everyone brings something to share. Reunions are about having a few beers and sharing memories of where we met and where we are today.
The weather is great at this time of year. The heat and humidity have passed and the leaves are just beginning to turn. I’ve put together a quick history lesson on how and why the Twin Cities came about and some of the many high lights that you really want to see in case you should never return. I grew up in Saint Paul but this quick tour is going to be about Minneapolis.
Saint Paul is the Capital, but this summer they are rebuilding the entire exterior, as a result, the building and many of the great sites will be less than stellar.
Hey, I almost forgot but we need photos to share. I’ve gone through my stuff and have dug out old photos but I could use your help. I cannot remember some of you guys but with a big group effort, we should be able to sort names out. It’s a great time to share photos.
Guys we are getting older and time is not on our side so let’s get together in Minneapolis. DeDe and I grew up in the Twin Cities, so if you have questions please contact me and if I don’t have the answer I’ll find out.

    1. We would be interested in the city tour and the Ft. Snelling tour.
If we need to prepay let me know. Terry Roberts, (replied by wife, Louise.)

  11. Lt
Our local news showed heavy storm damage in Greys Lake this week. Did you have any damage? Hope you and your family are ok.

    1. Wally,
Thank you for your concern! We are fine! It passed about 2-300 yards south of our house and was a EF1 with winds at 90-100 MPH. It had a path 7.5miles long and 300 yards wide. It took the roofs off of several businesses and a small part of our high school roof. It tore up a newly redone skate park near out garden but no tomatoes were damaged. Lots of trees and fences down. Noone hurt that I am aware of. It showed its strength by putting a big bow in a wrought iron fence by our municipal swimming pool. See you in MN!

  12. My wife and I had a very pleasant and enjoyable late lunch with Ben and Marylin Buehler in Durant, OK yesterday. They were down here for a family reunion, so we got together for a few too short hours.
It’s always fun to visit with our brothers and sisters.

  13. I updated Gary Capshaw’s email address for all of his friends that want to stay in contact with him.

    1. Check to make sure you’ve got the right radio. You may have a PRC-77 and been listening in on the battalion net instead of the company net.

  14. I just talked to Ray Johnson and he said he is going to get his room booked for the reunion. He said he had car problems last year and was unable to attend the 2014 reunion. He finally retired several months ago and is enjoying retirement.

  15. Hey Brothers, this is who has signed up so far. August 10th, is the last day for this reduced rate so if anyone is on the fence, get off of it and make your reservation. Minnesota is wonderful in the fall and we will have a great time.
I am waiting for a few people to get back to me and then I plan on posting an itinerary so that you can make plans of what you want to do in your free time.

  16. Larry…They say one shot of liquor is equivalent to one can of beer….so a fifth would be about 25 beers….that really wouldn’t hurt you if you spaced it out over 8-10 hours or so……Chuck…..That’s my kind of vehicle (with a designated driver , of course).

  17. I got a nice donation for the web site expenses from brother LT Ken Ruesch, thanks a lot!
    Bill:
How many beers does it take to equal a fifth on the fourth?

  18. Bill…… I’ll keep that in mind while I am running around in my Hot Rod. You would like it. It has a four on the floor with a fifth under the seat. (I couldn’t help myself)

  19. Unsolicited advice for those of you that will be celebrating Independence Day by indulging in a few libations…….Don’t drink over a fifth on the Fourth or you may not come forth on the Fifth……..God Bless America…..Bill

  20. Sorry LT, havn’t been around for awhile but I want to say thanks for the offer but it just rains too much back there for me!

  21. Hey Terry,
Come back to Chicago if you want cool. We have been awfully wet with temps this next 7 days not expected to be out of the 70s. Sounds a little like Seattle doesn’t it?

  22. Obviously Short Round fired off another short round because nobody has crawled out of their foxholes for awhile. Anybody else hot and uncomfortable out there? It’s pretty warm for Seattle! And gonna get warmer. Wish I was in Creede, it’s gotta be cooler up there!

    1. I wished I was in Creede, CO. right now. I am back in Walsh, CO. We got a heavy hail damage to on our corn crop so I had to come home to help with the replant. It is also wheat harvest time. Maybe in a couple of days I will get to head back to Creede.

  23. lt TY–and thanks to you for leading us on 4 may of 70. leaders lead by example and you sure did.
DO NOT believe what any old grunt from HAWAII says about me. his mind degenerated long ago.

  24. got off my dead butt and made reservation for reunion.
me and rocky got stache off his dead butt and he filed a claim–only 45 yrs later. we all know grunts can be a bit slow, specially humping uphill during monsoons. still–45 is a few tads too slow.
if rex reads this–DO NOT believe larry if he says anything that i said. hump on brother grunts–s.r.

  25. To those of us who are fortunate enough to have children and grandchildren a hardy Happy Fathers Day!
