  1. Hey Gary King and Steve Homoki,
Where the heck have you guys been? It has been a long time since I have seen any postings from you. Our September reunion in Wabasha MN notice has now been posted on the ADVA site americal.org

  2. I remember Re-supply choppers brought us hot chow on 3/16. I even remember eating green mint ice cream Dixie cups (for St Patrick’s day). Then we humped to the night logger, which was used before and was already dug out. . We left and then doubled back a couple of hours later near dusk. That’s when the shit hit the fan. Does anybody remember it like this or is my memory faulty? How about it, LT, Rock ,Short Round, anybody else?

  3. lt–yes–16 mar 70 was a bad 1–at least 20 wounded and some KIA in that 20. not sure if that counted ga and huong-the former nva. still pisses me off–was next to tiny and he got shrapnel and a sham and i didn`t.
larry fry–it was 12 days later when you and other squad members got the bouncin betty. good to hear you and terry r are doing ok now.

    1. Thanks Larry. Sorry I’m answering late. I forgot to come back here. I think I may have had a senior moment that lasted awhile.

Welcome aboard. Contact the site administrator at the red “admim” link just above and give him your contact info. That’ll put you in the roster where everyone can find you (if you want to be found) and he can also give you the access code to get in it. There are a lot of us from our time frame already here.

  11. Short round:
I don’t remember the typhoon Clay was talking about because I wasn’t there yet. I do remember a typhoon which came through while we were in the rear at Danang. It tore up a lot of stuff. I also remember some kind of storm which came by while we were in Antenna Valley, but I don’t know if it was a typhoon or not. All I remember of it is huddling against a palm tree on guard duty to shield myself from the wind, and the tree would bend over me and nearly touch the ground before springing back up again. It was a notably miserable night among many miserable nights. 🙂

  12. gary–snowbird lou and wife left yesterday, after a nice visit here. showed him a few pre kham duc pics and a few K.D. pics. i remember hearing about that typhoon, sure glad i missed it. yes, far as i remember, hiep duc and LZ siberia were at extreme arty range. seems i should remember more about the typhoon, was in chu lai then. didn`t some aircraft go up to da nang to avoid the typhoon, ?

  13. Come on guys! How about jumping on the web link to Caringbridge below for Lawrence(Larry) Fry and give him some words of encouragement. He is our brother and Lord knows he is going through a heck of a lot!

  14. Clay:
You’re right. I remember how all you guys who were on that operation called it the “Tam Ky Death March.”

  15. Re: Where the company was in Sept & Oct, ’70–My first time out in late Sept/early Oct must have been around Hiep Duc or south of there. We were near extreme range for artillery support. A typhoon came through, the choppers couldn’t come get us so we walked 20-25 clicks over two days in a driving rain til we got where trucks could get to us. We then went east several clicks by truck to Tam Ky and then north to HH. After that we operated in the hills west of Baldy or in Happy Valley northwest of Baldy until we went to Antenna Valley a week or two after Thanksgiving. Gary Capshaw’s timeline is correct after that.

  16. Lt,
Color me cyber space dumb! Thanks. As for you Larry Fry you have won many a battle in life and you will win this one.

  17. Ben Buhler:
I have some money in Charlie Company checking account that some of our brothers donated for the Doc Rimmer scholarship fund. Can you get the details as to when the ceremony will be this year so that if anyone wants to attend they have time to plan for it? Also, if anyone wants to donate to the fund, I will collect and remit to the scholarship fund for Charlie Company. Let me know if you are interested in helping out.

  18. Hey brothers! We cannot visit brother Larry Fry in the hospital but the next best thing is to send him words of encouragement at Caringbridge.org. His site is Lawrence Fry!. It is easy to sign up and get in touch with him. I would certainly hope that all who attended the St. Louis reunion and met him and his wife Frances would get on board!
