We are looking at a Harley Davison assembly plant tour for the morning or early afternoon. The ladies that do not want to attend this may want to go to the Country Club Plaza is Kansas City’s premier retail, restaurant, and entertainment district.
We are looking at getting a block of tickets to go the Kansas City Royals VS Chicago White Sox game at 7 pm. We should get good prices and recognized during the game as Veterans.

    Local Area
For those of you who shop, there are several malls in the area.
For those who like to go to casinos, there are several casinos in the metro area.
The Kansas City area also has the following:
    2 Presidential libraries
    Great Lakes Science Center
Anyone have any comments or suggestions?

  2. Today I updated some information on Taps. I need help on getting more details for our brothers that have passed.

    1. I hate to hear that. I wished the families knew how and would contact someone from C 2/1 so that we could pay our last respects.

  3. I received a very generous donation from Dennis Wagner. The money will be used to help with 2020 reunion expenses. By the way, there is a committee that is working on the reunion. We are awaiting on word if anyone wants to host, but we do know the date will be like in the past. We will go back to our weekend after Labor Day, which this year will be September 11-13, 2020.

  4. Merry Christmas to all my C/2/1 brothers and their families! May God bless all of you and make 2020 a better year for all!

  5. There are announcements of the recent deaths of two C Company soldiers on today’s 196th Guestbook:
James J. Barrett and Steve Cox were both wounded in January, 1968.
    RIP

  6. My father, Steve Cox, who served as a lieutenant with Charlie Co, 2nd Bn, 1st Inf and was wounded in Jan 1968 near Da Nang, passed away on Sept 12, 2019 at the Syracuse VA Medical Center. He suffered with dementia and lived his last two years at the Community Living Center at the VA under their wonderful care. He routinely wore his 196th LIB hat and was enormously proud of his service in Vietnam. Best wishes to all who served with him. – Col. Patrick Cox

  7. Happy Thanksgiving to you Brothers, and to your Families.
Thankful for all of our military Brothers and Sisters that cant be with their families today.

  8. Happy Thanksgiving to all my brothers and their families, Safe travels if going somewhere to visit family and friends. I know as Grunts we have much to be thankful.

  9. Wally Searight and his son in law Terry Moore came out for my annual pheasant hunt. They arrived before the start of the pheasant hunt season, so we went prairie dog hunting. Wally and I were using 204 calibers and Terry used 17HMR. We fired almost 1,000 rounds. We were hitting on at least 75%, so we did a lot of thinning. We also got several pheasants and quail.
While Wally was here, he gave me a nice donation for web site expenses. Thank you, Brother Wally.

  10. Tuesday at 1900 hours EST, on ESPN2 is Rocky Bleier’s return to Vietnam. Called SC Featured for 30 minutes.

  11. May this Veterans Day be special for each of you. I am honored to have served with so many loyal, brave and compassionate American Patriots. You represent the BEST of what America stands for. Each of you is part of a special brotherhood forged in the fires of war. Be safe, stay happy and enjoy our day on Monday. Semper Primus!

    1. Ty,
As I get more mature and we have our buddies go on to join the ranks of those we lost while there, I appreciate more what each of you did and the hardships we all endured. Although we may not have known each other, we have a bond that people who were not “Grunts” will ever understand.

  12. Wishing all of my Brothers a very happy and peaceful veterans day. Hope you have an opportunity to participate in activities and some of the freebies near by you! God bless you all!

  13. I got a nice donation from Tom Scanlon for web site and reunion expenses. Thank you brother Tom.
If anyone wants one of the booklets that I passed out at the reunion, let me know.
