  1. I refuse to check in just to be obnoxious. And, at my current 250 lbs, you can’t MAKE me do 20 pushups! 🙂

  2. every now and then something is needed to get a grunts attention–like a good firefight or a 10 klick full ruck hump–since those aren`t available anymore–a shame—our officers will be dropping for 20–all those that fail to reply during this coming week. that will make the next reunion a bit more memorable. get in shape.

  3. This is the day all veterans can be proud of their service to our country. Iknow I am and I also appreciate our brotherhood. We are all different individuals with different opinions and different stories. That is what we think of as freedom. I always reflect on this day my time in ‘NAM AS TODAY, 42 YEARS AGO I left Tacoma just as the fireworks were going off. What a year.

  7. Chuck,
Nice line. A good 4th of July to you all as we all helped keep this country free. Just got our last load of furniture & boxes from Florida. Found an unopened 1998 Maker’s Mark with the red seal on it. Guess I will give it to my son-in-law.
Got hooked up with the Lebanon, PA this week. Go next week.
One of the you men who delivered my last load just got out of the Marines last year as infantry. Spent 6 years. Saw my Army license tag and CIB sticker on my truck. Nice kid. Told him Vietnam.

  12. I served in D Company 2/1 196th (Aug 1968-69) as a Grunt and returned home only to suffer from PTSD even until now. I was able to talk myself out of ending my dreams of hell many times. Seeing news reports of so many new vets returning home, only to end their lives, finally drove me to write a book (My Life, My Hell This Grunt’s Journey Back to the World). It is a true account of my service and was written as an outreach to my fellow Vietnam Veterans and our new returning veterans in order to help them heal from PTSD, and for their families and friends to understand why we suffer. I also charge America to give Korean and Vietnam Veterans the long overdue respect and honor deserved for their service. The book can be located on the internet by searching my complete name.

  19. Hi, everyone,
Sorry I haven’t written lately. My wife and I returned from our 3 year assignment in Italy on March 1st, and have been busy getting settled back into our house in Sugar Land, Texas.
I’m at North Fort Hood for the next 2 weeks helping train one of our great US Army units, that will be deploying in the very near future.
I love reading the notes that you all write. It keeps our memory alive.
I hope to be at the reunion in Killeen.
