I stand corrected on the Kemo Sabe thing. I looked the pretend word up and they gave me too much info..

  2. Hey Chuck,
Pardon my correction but I think it is kemo sabe. Yours must be related to Sadam Hussain! Hope all is going good for you!

  3. Hey guys! Got home last night from Colorado at 2AM. Drove 1083 miles with the help of my Grandson Anthony! Thanks to Larry and Judy for a couple of beautiful days in Creede and to Gary Capshaw and his crew for a good time in Manitou Springs. If you haven’t ever ridden the Cog Railroad to the top of Pikes Peak make sure you do it if the opportunity arises, it is fantastic. Looking forward to seeing some of you in DC!

  5. I am looking forward to seeing LT Ruesch, his wife Tai, and their grandson this weekend up in Creede, CO. They will stay with us for a few days then we are going to the reunion in Colorado Springs.

    1. LT,that’s a negative. I prefer the smaller reunions with just our company . You’ll see me at the next Charlie Co. one. Tooch

  6. Just got back from a month in Florida. Spent a day with bullwinkle and his wife at their home.It was good to see him. Tooch

  7. Let us remember them as they will always be young in our memories as will be young when we remember them.
When I remember those times now, I often wonder how I had the mental, physical, & spiritual strength to survive.

  8. Sitting here thinking about the past 40 some odd years and how things have changed, changes our fallen friends were not allowed to be a part of. Things we take for granted and accept like this website, cell phones, satellite TV, 40 MPG automobiles, air conditioned combines, the list goes on and on. None of it is comparable to the loss of their time to have the opportunity to love their family and friends. I will take time to honor their memory and all of those before and after our time. God Bless America!

  9. Guys,
Monday is a time to remember all of our fallen comrades! Take some time to reflect on them but also have a good day as they would I’m sure like you to have. Happy Memorial Day!

  12. Carl,
I corresponded early on with Lori and was glad to hear she will be attending. I will miss the presence of Dan but am glad the family continues on doing what I know he loved doing which is spending time with his “brothers”

  13. Carl….I salute you and your buddies who were in that battle. It must have been a living hell on earth.

  14. Dave,
How can I get in touch with you? Guillermo was in my fire team and I was in that firefight when he was killed. We had 20 KIA’s and 64 WIA’s that night.

  15. Duane Williams was in my platoon while with the 82nd Abn. A genuinely good guy, liked to talk about his home—— South Philly. He was one of the many who came north like SR, Russ Scheizer, myself and several others. Never have cared much for New Years Eve since then.

  16. Hello,
first of all let me say thank you all who served!
I’m searching for info regarding a PFC Guillermo Jr. De Leon from Uvalde Texas who was killed in action on 1/5/68 while serving with the 196th C Co. in the 196th in the Quang Tin Province.
I’m nearly complete with a book on Army unit during WWII, that Guillermo Sr. served in. I would also like to include any information regarding his son who made the ultimate sacrifice to this nation. If anyone here can point me in the right direction to gather more info on what and where the unit was on the date 1/5/68.

    1. The Daily Staff Journal for that day (that action lasted more than one day) should be available at the National Archives in DC. I heard that only 8 in our Company were left in fighting form at the end of the battle. There is an article about the battle in the Sept, 2006 VFW magazine. Robert St. George is one of our active members on this site and he was a survivor of that action.

  17. May issue, VFW magazine article “The 64 Who Never Came Home”, middle of page 37 cites the death of Duane Williams on Jan 1, 1970. Many of us were there that night.

  18. Russ
I guess she meant it when she said ” Me love you long time”.
    It’s been 43 years…..
