  1. OK, here is my question. I was watching “Full Metal Jacket” for the first time the other night and heard the term “1000 mile stare” which I believe I have heard before. Anyone else recall such a term.

  2. Today, Aug. 31, 2012 is a good day, our grandaughter, Ella Leigh is born healthy and calmly to our youngest daughter, my hero that she is a cancer survivor and one of the strongest people I have ever known! She is our fourth grandchild. We are truly blessed.

  3. Guys,
I just heard from Dan Roczniak’s widow, Lori today. She appears to being doing well and has moved to Palos Heights. I encouraged her to stay in touch and to join us at our functions. If anyone would like her contact info, please let me know and I will forward it.

  5. Today 42 years ago was a sad day in the history of 2/1 as many souls were lost on the Chinook shot down on LZ Judy! RIP O’Bie and all the others!

  6. Lawrence,
Can you give me more information on how to locate it on Face Book. I am not having any luck. was part of that action and the day we lost Duck.

  7. was going thru face book and found an article about 8-22-69//it was under VIETNAM VETERTRANS memorial page

  8. We are starting to get Short on time before the reunion! I know of at least a half a dozen that will be showing up on Tuesday the week of the reunion. I haven’t heard from Doc Whitebird, so I do not have a report on numbers.

  9. DANG–looks like we`ll have to have chuck get the pat down search for trying to smuggle C-rats and bug juice into the reunion–again. was a bit embarrasing at the 1 reunion when he kept telling larry and rex to chu hoi.

  10. Can someone please tell me why this trial for this animal has not started yet? They should have taken out back and skinned him with a dull spoon!!!!

  12. seems at least 1 of us got a full dose of degenerative brain disease but don`t worry chuck, i won`t mention your name.
LT–i am beyond sick seeing how some scum has a “right” to a trial when there is no reasonable doubt involved. this country needs to change some laws–and fast, before the nuts take out more good people. then the real insult, taxpayers paying for their keep. we put down rabid animals and these scum are even worse.

  13. Maybe I should drive up there to give him a hand gettingthat beard off. I have a few ideas that would work real well I think. Plus, this would help him if he had to go into the witness protection program. I’m sure no one would recognize him once I helped him out…….

    1. i believe that they should have him put in frount of a firing sguad and given a 14 gun salute as he did to the ones he was suppose be commrades with{{{beard and all}}

  14. How about the trial of the Muslim Major in Ft. Hood being stayed because he wants to keep the beard he has grown throughout the trial while a military judge told him to shave. He is playing the religious freedom card. I don’t recall him having the beard when he killed the innocent soldiers so why should he have any rights! Treat him like the Gitmo boys!
Chuck, you are one sick puppy!

  15. LT….. The new BG is probably 39 years old and super qualified……. Watch that blood presure now. Beckum, I always thought that B&B stood for Bed & Breakfast, not Boil on the Butt…….
Boy, what I wouldn’t give for a few snorts og some CS gas. That and a John Wayne bar, it don’t get much better. Well, maybe you could throw a leech or two on the scrotum and a few freash mosquito bites on the lip or eye lids. God I miss summertime in the Orient.

  16. ben–don`t know if your platoon did, but thankfully some of us in 1st platoon dug below ground sleeping positions and that sure helped us to be able to count bullet holes in our hooches, instead of our butts, or other places.
when we went in after F-troop i crawled partially into a bomb damaged NVA bunker.amazingly a small part of the roof was left. when i got to the bad smell part and all the ants feasting on something, figured it was time to crawl backwards and out.

  17. just read an article about degenerative brain disease caused by being too near too many booby traps. that explains a lot about the grunts i served with and i hope many of you recover.
