  1. OK guys…… I could sure use some help on that VN version of the 12 days of Christmas.
Terry…. Are you really coming out to Arizona? “The fish are jumping and the cotton is high”…

  2. Gonna be a huge mess here in Wash State, too. Biggest problem seems to be how the state can make huge tax money out of it like they want to do, let alone the feds doing their thing.

  3. The whacky weed is supposed to be legal to sell in small amounts here in Colorado, but the Fed’s says that it is still against Federal laws. The feds have threatened banks that they will jerk their FDIC insurance for any banks doing business with illegal business, which they consider the whacky weed business to be. It is a mess; they cannot deposit their cash, use credit cards, and have bank accounts. I wonder how long it will be that they have a lot of robberies, etc. Come on out, but buy your stuff before you get here, my county has banned it’s sale.

  4. Tooch,
Unfortunately you can not take the MJ out of CO. You can only smoke it at Larry’s house. By the way, there are no refunds or returns.
    Bill,
you can have your Tupperware, I’ll take a quarter pounder like Cheech and Chong.

    1. You can’t smoke it outside either. In Colorado, you can’t smoke a cigarette indoors, but you MUST smoke dope indoors.
What a weird world we live in.

  5. Happy New Year to all of my Charlie Grunt brothers. I love reading all the posts, and even submitting my own postings from time to time.
This is just another time for us to think back to days when things weren’t as good for us, and to be grateful that we all survived it and have become who we are today.

  6. HAPPY NEW YEARS 2014 TO ALL MY BROTHERS! These couldn’t come fast enough it seemed when we were young but now they seem to pass too quickly. We are in for a very snowy New Years Eve and Day with cold that takes me back to my tour in Fairbanks, AK. Have fun but most of all be safe! I love you guys!

  7. Gentlemen… my deepest thanks for your comments. I am humbled. What an honor it was for me to be with you then and even greater now. I hope 2014 is the best year of your lives yet. Like you, I grieve for those we lost over there and those who have passed since then. They live in our hearts. Now… what the heck is going on with everyone else? Remember, old farts like me live vicariously through you!

  8. Ty, there alot of us that would go again with you at the lead, you’d have to slow down a bit though with all those geezers, including me, behind you. Thanks for the sentiments, and right back at ya! A happy new year to you all!

  9. It’s good to see you post Ty…. It’s been a while.. Hope all is well at your end and have yourself a great Holiday season.

  10. It is the supportive and kind statements like those of Short Round and Bill Beckman that reflect the uniqueness of Charlie Grunts. You’re guys are greatest.

    1. Ty, I want to echo Shortround and Bill’s comments…. it was truly an honor and privilege to serve under your command. I’d do it all over again under your leadership, in a heartbeat. Merry Christmas !

  11. MERRY CHRISTMAS to all my fellow grunts–what fun we had. if i had chuck`s money i`d send all a can of C–rats.
TY–on the nite of 4 Mayn70 you showed me what leadership was all about. sure glad larry put this together –a gift to us all. memories to keep til we get to the big firebase up in the sky–or where ever.

  12. Ty,
Although I did not serve with you we have met and it is an honor and privilege to know you and call you brother. I would have been proud to have been under your command.

  13. I thank each of you I had the honor to serve with in Vietnam. You taught me what it means to be an American. I was the most fortunate officer in the US Army. I had the privilege to be surrounded by brave, honorable fearless men. I have heard the complaints of other platoon leaders and company commanders about their tours in other units but I have no such feelings from mine. Who you are now and who you were then is the greatest blessing and gift a man could have. Thanks and God Bless each and everyone one of you. To those I did not have the chance to serve with, Semper Primus. You are a part of the most honorable brotherhood I know. Stay safe and be blessed this season.

  14. Christmas with the family can be a challenge. If sister gets tanked and knocks over the tree, if the kids throw tantrums because they don’t like what they got, if the dog dry humps your present, if your grand-daughter’s new boyfriend shows up dressed like Marylin Manson and fingering a knife, if your wife shoots you looks to kill when you get too close to hot cousin Betty, if the beer gets hot and the family love a little chilly, if all the little kids mistake you for Santa Claus, if the cops are called when a fight spills out into the yard and grandma gets food poisoning from the egg nog….just remember where you spent Christmas in Vietnam and keep saying to yourself, “This is not that bad. This is not that bad.”
Merry Christmas, brothers. Or, happy Kwanza, Happy Holidays, Happy Hannukkah, Merry Festivus. Whatever floats your boat.

  15. Merry Christmas to all you C/2/1ers! Have safe and Happy day hopefully with family and friends! May the New Year bring you health and prosperity! Spend a moment of time thinking of those who we lost in Vietnam and since returning home. Love you guys! Hope to see many of you in Escanaba MI this coming summer! Be safe!

  16. Hello guys, larry from the boat people of c/2/1/ . I thought we had hit all the crap in III corp and after reading about C/2/1/ in the Hiep Duc area I can clearly see that the Bn Hqs continued to have c/2/1/ lead the way throughout the time. God Bless each and everyone on this Christmas Day, let us always remember the ones who “gave all”‘ . God BLess

  17. OK….. I need everyone’s help on this. Infantry and I were talking about a song we sang at Christmas time in December of 69. It was the “Grunt’s” version of the 12 Days of Christmas. We could only remember two of the days. Please help us fill in the blanks. I’m sure there are claymores, chi-coms, and AKs to mention a few we missed.
